SAMBOJA LODGE

This area is strictly for the orangutans survival foundation, which has been developing since 1992 in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, today at Samboja Lodge has about 180 orangutans that been released into 6 islands around. The Samboja Lodge are re-forestation and protection rain forests. Introduce their facility such as :

Orangutan Islands

Activities at the Orangutan Islands will begin at 8 am and continue until 4 pm. The islands are easily reached on foot from the Lodge. The Samboja Lodge’s guide will assist you to visit the island, every day workers bring over many kinds of fruits, vegetables and leafy branches.

Sun Bear Sanctuary

Samboja Lestari is a home to one of the world’s largest sun bear projects. You can help with the maintenance of the cages, observations on the behaviour of newly formed groups, creation behavioural enrichment, preparation and feeding out of food.

BANGKIRAI HILL

These areas known as Bukit Bangkirai, as most of the trees are Bangkirai. Located in outside Balikpapan city, about 45 km. Entrances the forest through the track step for investigate any kind of flora and fauna of Borneo rain forest. Enjoy the 30 meters canopy bridge that connect from tree to another tree.

BLACK RIVER

Enjoying the trip by canoe and watching the proboscis monkey and another wildlife also see the activity of local fisherman in the Black river.

MANGROVE CENTER

Beautiful landscape with mangrove tree around the area, also possible to see the wild proboscis monkey. Its located in Balikpapan Bay, only 30 minutes from the city center.
